The "Vera" Dachshund Scarf: Uncovering My Great Aunt Stella’s Style
The playful mid-century Vera scarf that connects four generations—and a love for wiener dogs.
This week’s featured piece comes straight from my grandma’s collection!
She recently sent me a photo of little something she’s had tucked away for decades (I’ve never seen this) —and here’s what she had to say:
“This piece has been with me for as long as I can remember. Given to me in the late 60s along with several other family items. It belonged to my Great Aunt Stella. I always assumed it was a nice bowtie for a man’s tuxedo. Pondering it the other day, I wished it could give up more info. Lo and behold, I turned it over and there, plain as day, is the signature ‘Vera.’ I thought we might have some fun with this one :)”

Grandma and I love Vera Neumann scarves. They’re often labeled simply “Vera,” and spotting one while thrifting is always a little thrill. I’ve never seen one with a title like this!
