A deep dive into your vintage treasures
Hello, vintage enthusiasts!
I’m overjoyed to welcome you to another edition of "The Vintage Vault," where we explore the unique and fascinating stories behind vintage pieces!
Today, I am thrilled to present three remarkable submissions that highlight so much of what I love about vintage including WWII jewelry, 1970s menswear, and 1940s British evening wear… I cannot wait to share what I’ve uncovered.
(Before we begin: I cannot overstate how grateful I am for the trust you place in me to tell these stories. Your submissions are not just items of clothing or accessories—they are treasured pieces of your lives and I do not take that lightly! Thank you for sending them to me and if you haven’t, the link to do so will be at the bottom of this post.)
Caitlyn’s Great Grandma’s bracelet:
Caitlyn comes to us from Maine and shares this heart bracelet:
“I believe it was my great grandmother’s, probably given to her by her husband during WW2. It’s not a locket version unfortunately. I’ve done some research on it because I think it’s so cool, but I’d love to hear anything you know about it! Also if you know of jewelry items similar to this idea or where I could get more of these. Thank you so much!”
Be still my HEART, Caitlyn! This is a sweetheart bracelet which originates in the 1800s and were marketed towards young girls/babies, but became incredibly popular during the world wars, as soldiers would send a sentimental item to their loved ones (sweethearts/girlfriends/wives) back home. These bracelets often featured gemstones, engravings, and sometimes lockets or photo compartments.
